First Lutheran Church of Crystal
is in search of our next Church Musician!
First is a welcoming and Spirit-led ELCA congregation seeking a Church Musician to provide musical leadership as a pianist/organist in our community and through our worship.
We are looking for a candidate who can:
Provide all piano and/or organ accompaniment for the musical elements of worship at 9:30 on Sunday mornings and occasionally on other special service days (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Rotating Wednesdays during Lent and Advent, Maundy Thursday, Easter)
Prepare and perform preludes, postludes, anthems and other music appropriate to the season and themes of the worship services.
Regularly meet and communicate with the Pastor as we plan music for worship.
Join us as a colleague in the ministry and mission of this church by your music in worship and fellowship with the members of the congregation. Help us to grow in appreciation of music as an act of ministry.
Some specific qualifications are:
The ability to prepare and perform music for worship on piano.
Experience accompanying congregational and choral singing, particularly liturgical worship services.
Familiarity with worship components, church music, and church calendar.
The ability to play vocal parts, read and play open score, and perform accompaniments musically and accurately.
If possible, we'd appreciate an applicant with:
Formal education in music.
Experience with a wide range of musical styles.
Ability to play organ
We anticipate the pay for this position would be based on a rubric where Sundays (and Easter) are compensated with at least $350 each and special services at $250 per service. Of course, we would make a more personalized offer based on your qualifications.
