🎶NOTES FROM YOUR MUSIC DIRECTOR 🎼
Greetings to Everyone,
Having celebrated Reformation Sunday this last week, we turn our hearts and minds to the season of thankfulness, gratitude and praise for God’s bountiful care. Here are some passages from scripture which help keep me in a spirit of thankfulness and praise.
So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
This passage encourages us to never give up; we must persevere: The core message is to never stop doing what is pleasing in God’s sight, even when it's difficult or results are not immediately visible. The use of the word harvest is this passage references a promise for future reward; it ensures that consistency in good deeds will lead to a positive outcome ( or “harvest” ) at the appropriate time. It is often interpreted as a blessing, spiritual growth, or the positive effects of one's actions, such as building good habits or helping others.
Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. James 3:18
This next verse correlates with our gospel for All Saints Sunday. We here the familiar words of The Beatitudes spoken by Jesus to his disciples: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9
So, let us remain strong, vigilant, and hopeful for our future. In a short time from now, we will find ourselves in the season of Advent, a season filled with words and imagery of peace and redemption, a blessing to us all because the promised Messiah is coming to live, work, and teach among us.
Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God. Isaiah 40: 1
Watch for my music related announcements in the Midweek Message, as well as the announcements in your bulletin about opportunities for musical participation. Please, if you find a calling to share your time and talent to the glory of God, talk with me either at church or when I am home. I appreciate your feedback into what is or is not working.
I wish everyone a blessed Thanksgiving,
Ben 🎵
